Breast Prostheses are implants made of soft material that is surgically placed in the breasts of women either for aesthetic reasons (almost 80% of cases), to make a breast reconstruction after cancer surgery (20% ) or, as in a few cases, in sex change operations. The two major breast implants are silicone and saline. Your choice depends on the discretion of the surgeon and the patient’s wishes.

Silicone breast implants are the most commercialized. It is estimated that in Spain, one of the most sought after countries in the European Union, are placed about 50,000 of these prostheses per year. However, the size, texture, form filling and can vary in each patient. First you must decide the texture of the shell of the implant, which can be smooth or textured. It is a sensitive issue, although most surgeons choose depending on the location of the prosthesis, above or below the pectoral muscle.
