Cosmetic Surgery Is Not an Invention Of Modernity

Cosmetic SurgeryContrary to what many might imagine, cosmetic surgery is not an invention of modernity but its origins date back to 1500 BC At that time in the Ebers papyrus showed that transplantation of tissues was practiced by the Egyptians from 3500 BC In addition the procedure also had a code of ethics, code of Hammurabi (which dates from 2000 BC) where it was stated that the surgeon who kill or destroy a patient’s eye will be amputees the fingers of his hands.

Also there are reports that around 2500 BC in India there were techniques of reconstruction of the nose, ears and lips. It is worth mentioning that Indian society was the custom to punish the prisoners of war criminals adulterers or mutilation of the nose or ears so also devised a method to repair these losses; method is still used with its well-known changes . The Development Of Surgery

The third in the ranking are occupied by liposuction, with 16%, while breast reductions are at 10%.

Although not in the top positions in the ranking of most operations carried out, there are four types of interventions that have grown faster. The most notable case is that of the Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), which increased sharply in the years 1997 to 1998 and since then maintains significant levels of demand in both men and women.
