Chemotherapy is mainly used in the treatment of a tumor disease, and particularly in the fight against cancer. We distinguish the so-called adjuvant and neoadjuvant chemotherapy.

Adjuvant chemotherapy is carried out in connection with surgery or radiotherapy. This will possibly remaining residual tumor and micrometastases are killed.

In the neoadjuvant chemotherapy, the tumor is damaged and to reduce the tumor mass, held before a scheduled surgery or radiotherapy.

During chemotherapy, the patient / the patient with drugs called cytotoxic drugs, treatment that kill cells or inhibit the growth of malignant cells.
