Chinese doctors took the view that the so-called “Qi” is an energetic life force that flows throughout the human body. It will thus cause a malfunction in these organ circles, it is trying to influence with acupuncture meridians, and therefore the positive energy flowing through the body. A regulation is to be achieved. The body will come back into balance. In simple terms this is called e.g. by the liver meridian, or from the stomach meridian.
The earliest description of the acupuncture meridians, dates back to around the year 200 BC. There are on the acupuncture meridians approximately 700 different acupuncture points.
